Ufufu is a fashion concept store for those seeking modern and original clothes, whose workmanship and origin are as important as their look.
Fashion is in vogue. This is not only proven by a growing popularity of fashion-related blogs or television talent shows for models and designers. First of all, credence to that statement is lent by customers who give it their support by increasingly visiting designer fashion boutiques and concept stores in search of modern and distinctive clothes. As some industry experts say: Polish people are gaining fashion awareness.
One of the most recognizable places of this kind in the Tri-City is the Ufufu brand, whose outlet is located in the Madison shopping center in the heart of Gdańsk. It all started with a small boutique in Warsaw, which Katarzyna Kmiecik, Aleksandra Mątkiewicz and Michał Starost launched in 2011 in order to promote their outfits. Residents of Warsaw looking for fashion curiosities very liked the idea. A year later, a branch of Ufufu – a seasonal boutique, operated in Sopot. After the first season (and a great interest of customers) its owners already knew that it was worth opening a large concept store in this part of Poland.
Outlet in Madison was launched in the autumn of 2013. It’s a place where we will buy not only Ufufu-branded clothes. Although the owners’ brand takes the place of honor here, in the boutique you can find clothes and accessories of other brands as well. Their common denominator is clear: products available here must be manufactured in Poland. As the owners are committed to the mission of promoting Polish designers and home design, they don’t compromise on the issue at all. Let an incident with a certain brand be a proof: when it was discovered that their products were sewn in Asia, cooperation with them was immediately broken off, even though their clothes were in demand among the customers.
It is not enough, however, for a brand to be name-sponsored by a local designer. Products sold in Ufufu must meet certain quality levels and fit in with a certain aesthetic worldview offered to local customers. Ufufu clothes are modern and original, their authors reinterpret standards and play with conventions. A mature woman over 30, who values elegance but at the same time is brave enough to be looked at with a pinch of salt, is the model target audience. Modern and dynamic businesswomen – it should be added that also those whose size is above XL – often dress here. Also men can look for unconventional outfits, although on a smaller scale.
In the store you will find clothes, shoes, cosmetics and accessories by several designers. Kinga Król, under the name of Confession, reinterprets everyday life in the form of imaginative dresses and knitted garments. Wiktor Wielgo is a modern street-fashion brand. It will definitely appeal to admirers of Łukasz Jemioł, whose designs can also be found in Ufufu. Monika Robaszewska, under the Harmni brand, offers subtle and modern office outfits, and clothes for the evening and special occasions bear Joanna Hawrot’s label. In Ufufu we will also find Muses outfits endorsed by Natasza Urbańska as well as popular street-fashion clothes by Wanted Wear.
Customers seeking fashion rarities should pay attention to the Aśka brand, whose clothes in Poland are available only here. Outfits by Joanna Pecorari, a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk now living in Paris, are delicate chiffon proposals only for the ladies. When it comes to the Ufufu label, we will get both subtle woman’s outfits by Michał Starost, and also designer blazers and suits for men by Kasia Kmiecik.
If the names of the designers do not ring a bell, qualified staff is at your service – all the sales assistants have experience in styling and fashion industry. Interestingly enough, prices in Ufufu are often not higher than those we must pay in the popular clothing chains. For example: a blouse costs from 79 PLN, a skirt from 119 PLN, and pants from 159 PLN. Jewelry prices start from 49 PLN, and leather bags from 169 PLN. It is worth noting that these are often single items. In Ufufu we can personally experience and debunk the stereotype that good quality designer clothes must be expensive.
