The idea of the Festival is simple – it is supposed to be thematic, diverse, classy, and most of all delicious. First edition of the festival, planned for December 5th, was all about Christmas atmosphere. Sztuka Wyboru coffee club, located in Gdańsk at Garnizon estate, hosted more than 40 exhibitors who treated guests to specialties of their making.

Exhibitors included mainly Tricity-based restaurants, both those that have been functioning for some time and have already gained recognition (such as Delmonico cut Steakhouse, Marmolada Chleb i Kawa), as well as those that are only beginning to pave their way on the culinary route of Tricity but have already managed to conquer the hearts of gourmets (Tu’gether, Prologue Restauracja & Bar, Główna Osobowa).

The festival has assumed an informal form – stands of the restaurateurs were placed on two levels of the venue. The center of the main room was furnished with with tall tables that allowed to enjoy the purchased specialties, which were plenty: from meat, and mushroom-stuffed dumplings (from Mała Ukraina restaurant, as well as prepared on the spot by experts from Mocno Nadziane), through classic Christmas Eve borscht (Bistro Słowacki) and mushroom soup, bigos /hunter’s stew/ (Lobster), to lazanki with poppy seed (Bocian Morski). Gastronomes had a rich choice of fish: Greek-style cod, zander and trout in aspic, different kinds of herring (for example in beetroot), salmon roulade, or salmon marinated in white wine, and even a carp stake tartare. There was also no short of duck with cabbage and apple, meat and mushroom-stuffed pastries, as well tarts and wine.

Many restaurateurs also made sure to promote their own-made preserves. Restaurants Kotlet and Neighbours decided to treat guests with home-made pates. Główna Osobowa, on the other hand, tempted with beetroot, white bean and hazelnut mousse. Delicious chutneys, pastes, and dried fruit perfect for Christmas compote were also very popular.

But savory dishes did not end the list. The second room was filled with sweet treats. “Oridinary” , vegan, and gluten-free cakes, chocolate-covered fruit, ginger bread and brownies that have in recent years become a Christmas special in many Polish households were also on plenty.

Those looking for Christmas ornaments also left the festival satisfied. Stands with designer products and handicraft tempted with their rich offer.

Smakuj Trójmiasto Culinary Festival is not only a feast for the senses. It is also a reason to perfect yourself, for example in the fields of decorating Christmas gingerbread cookies, or creating Christmas ornaments. The rich offer of the festival also included workshops for adults and kids as well.

First edition of the festival has without doubt turned out to be a success in terms of attendance. Sztuka Wyboru, a charming, modern and finely designed place, hosted hundreds of people. It further proves that Tricity is open to new, interesting gastronomic.
