-Years ago, we devised a motto that we adhere to until this day: horses are our passion, and learning horse riding is a way to understand this passion – says Jakub Gossa, owner of Iskra stables and guesthouse in Sztumskie Pole.

The compound comprises 12 hectares of green areas, riding squares, pastures, contest arenas, and a riding hall used in case of bad weather. Breathtaking, tranquil surroundings, and a forest that allows your mind to meander away from every day problems, offering consolation. Iskra stables in Sztumskie Pole offers haven for all horse riding amateurs, and provides for those who seek contact with nature unspoiled by civilisation.

The idea to open a stable was born in 1999 – says Jakub Gossa. – At first, we only were breeding horses, but it turned out really quickly that an equestrian school would be a better idea. Right now, our stable houses 55 horses. We would like all our guests to know the so-called „horse riding ABC” – he adds.

The „horse riding ABC” is nothing less but thorough practical and theoretical knowledge of these magnificent creatures. This is the reason for stable and manege workshops, horse riding lessons under a watchful eye of an instructor, for both beginners and advanced riders. Real aficionados can participate in horse rallies that last several days. The surroundings are favourable, as there is more than 120 km of horse riding paths in the vicinity, which can take you as far as to the city of Iława.

– The riding school is our main activity. We promote safety, and our broad offer is one of our strenghts. There are five instructors, certified by the Polish Equestrian Federation, assigned to fifty-five horses. Our offer includes lessons for adults, children, as well as family holidays, or equestrian camps. We have also included hippotherapy in our offer – says the owner of Iskra Stables, which has been a family-run business for two generations now.

Within the premises, there is a guest house that offers 65 beds in a three-star hotel standard. The decor reminds that horses rule this place. There are plenty of accessories and equestrian gear that remind of the region’s history and culture.

Guests of Iskra Stables are treated to regional specialties by the owner’s wife, Katarzyna Gossa. As a Fumenti Culinary Academy graduate, having practised in different restaurants in Tricity, she creates magical combinations of Polish and international cuisine.

Food in the guest house is top quality, prepared from products from local, ecological suppliers. As there is a smokehouse within the premises, guests are treated to homemade smoked meat, among others: ham, bacon, pates, as well as smoked fish caught in the nearby pond. Spiżarnia Iskry (Iskra Pantry) is a brand of products created by the Gossa family. It turns out, however, that these products are not limited to meat only, but also include jams, marinated mushrooms, or pickles. And everything is home made.

Since Iskra Stables is a large facility, it also includes conference rooms where numerous events take place. There is a broad team building offer prepared for companies, such as horse rallies or horse carriage rides, as well as shooting classes under the watchful eye of a qualified instructor.

Thanks to continuing engagement and immense passion of the owners for what they do, Iskra Stables is constantly developing. The owners have heads full of ideas and declare that they will surprise their guests many times in the near future.
