Actors’ Tennis Club has finally visited Gdańsk! Actors, artists, sponsors and guests, invited by the host – entrepreneurs and friends, took part in a friendly tennis doubles competition organized by Novotel Marina Gdańsk. The 3-day Tenis VIP CUP was filled with sunshine, competitive spirit and welcoming, family-like atmosphere.
On the first weekend of June, the Actors’ Tennis Club competition was officially opened on the tennis courts of Novotel Gdańsk Marina. It became a tradition for the actors and artists to open the tennis season together.
The idea to organize Novotel Gdańsk Marina Tenis VIP CUP 2022 tournament has been on our minds for quite some time. Last year the management board of Actors’ Tennis Club accepted our invitation to make an on-site assessment of the premises. The hotel, the infrastructure, the location of the facilities in Jelitkowo, just a few steps away from the beach, and our tennis courts turned out to be so impressive that the actors chose our hotel to be the venue of the tennis season opening ceremony. The fundamental structure of NOVOTEL brand is based on two underlying values: sport and family. I am all the more pleased to have had the opportunity to host such a fabulous Sporty Family – says Emilia Gałdyn, hotel deputy manager.
Actors’ Tennis Club: for the love of the game
Actors’ Tennis Club is made up of an incredibly pro-active group of actors, for whom playing a game of tennis is nearly as important as playing a part in a film or performing on theatre stage. The representatives of older and younger generation can interact with one another in the club, sharing the passion for tennis and physical activity. New members are continuously joining the club, they are the artists who got bitten by the tennis bug thanks to their more experienced colleagues.
Actors’ Tennis Club was founded in 2008. Jan Englert is the President of The Club and he has been a captain of our team since the beginning of the Club. Until now we have not had any headquarters as a club, but it looks like we are going to have our place to meet and the tennis court for our trainings – says Tomasz Gęsikowski, The Vice-President of ATC.

Celebrity tournament: actors, artists and entrepreneurs
The competition was fierce on the court, but all the players were in an excellent mood and their sense of humour made the game enjoyable for everyone. The entire event was supervised by The Polish Tennis Association and its representative – Piotr Żurek was the chair umpire.
The contestants of the celebrity tennis tournament featured, among others: Karol Strasburger, Tomasz Gęsikowski, Paweł Deląg, Tomasz Stockinger, Piotr Miazga, Henryk Sawka, Jerzy Janowicz and Urszula Dudziak. Apart from the big names of show-business, also sponsors and partners of the tournament took part in the competition.
On Friday the eliminations for doubles took place. On Saturday there were semi-finals and the grand final.
Since the actors’ tournament was played at the same time as the Roland Garros final match between Iga Świątek and the American player Cori Gauff, the players and the spectators could not complain about the lack of excitement – both on the courts in Gdańsk and in front of the big screen, while supporting the Polish tennis champion and watching her win the final. Saturday was indeed a great celebration for all Polish tennis fans.

The guests took a ride there on a special party bus and on the way could listen to the music, sing and dance.
The evening began in Olivia Garden, where the guests could sense the tropical climate and admire the spectacular flora. Then it was time to go up, to the 32nd floor. It was the time for refreshments, socializing, chatting and souvenir photos taken on the viewing terrace.
