Spending the long May weekend in Gdańsk is a great idea. The atmospheric city centre, numerous restaurants and bars, proximity of the sea and green areas – all of those make Gdańsk an ideal place to spend a romantic time for two, as well as plan some active recreation for the whole family. This year’s long May weekend is at least 5 days long. How to spend this time in Gdańsk and where to stay?

Gdańsk has got many various attractions to offer. Starting from restaurants that will satisfy even the most refined tastes (and children’s demanding palates, as well), through a rich cultural offer (cinemas, theatres, museums, art galleries), to small shops with local handicraft products or large shopping malls. And those views! In Gdańsk, you don’t need much to feel like in paradise.
Just take a walk along the famous Long Street  towards the Motława River at night, sit on one of the benches on the Long Embankment and soak up the ambience of this romantic place with all your senses. And then go for a good dinner, for example to the Filharmonia, Fino, or Kubicki restaurant.

Hotels in Gdańsk city centre – where to stay during the long May weekend?

We can recommend several places for a city break in Gdańsk. All of them are located in the strict city centre, have a unique atmosphere and offer excellent cuisine. The first such place is  Dwór Uphagena Arche Gdańsk, a real treat for historic architecture lovers. The history of this place dates back to the year 1800. Back then, the facility was a summer residence of The Uphagen family. In this charming hotel you can have a great meal in Stara Kuchnia restaurant and enjoy your favourite cocktail at Maglownia Bar. Dwór Uphagena prepared a special long May weekend package for adults and children.

Another excellent choice would be Hampton by Hilton Old Town, located just 2-minute walk away from the Neptun Fountain. All the most famous city attractions are just a stone’s throw from here! The Granary Island, The Lower Town and Forum Gdańsk – the huge shopping mall. Delicious buffet breakfasts are served at the hotel and guests have unlimited access to the fitness zone and a Work Zone, as well as a bar where they can relax after an exciting day.

Another excellent option is Hotel PURO, which is part of a larger chain of hotels located in major Polish cities. At the Gdańsk PURO, located on the Granary Island, welcomes you with modern and elegant space whose decor features motifs typical for the seaside city. At PURO Hotel there is also the Magari restaurant serving Italian cuisine and the Ink Above bar on the 8th floor, where you can enjoy exquisite cocktails.

Hotel Sadova is like a beautiful orchard where you can spend a very fruitful long May weekend. Relaxation, soothing massages, a swimming pool, good cider at the Pijalnia Cydrów and regional cuisine at the Papieroovka Cider Garden restaurant are the main assets of this place. Sadova Hotel is located close to the Gdańsk Music Academy premises.  It is an excellent base for a sightseeing excursion in the inner city centre. In comfortable, stylishly designed rooms you and your family will find a lovely refuge during the long May weekend.

You will find peace and a large dose of blissful relaxation at Almond Hotel . Here, modernity blends with history, dating back to the 1920s. The facility used to operate as a cocoa and marzipan factory. Very romantic, isn’t it? Today, this four-star hotel welcomes all those who want to truly relax – during a relaxing massage, while swimming in the pool or discovering new flavours at Magiel restaurant.

Radisson Blu is a hotel located on the Długi Targ street, so you really can’t get any closer to the centre! It is a luxurious, five-star hotel where you will receive everything you wish for. Inside the historic building, a former Gothic tenement house, you can see surprisingly modern interiors. The hotel restaurant, Verres en Vers, serves gourmet French cuisine and a wide selection of wines. Every morning, delicious buffet breakfasts will start you up for a good day and in the afternoons you can relax in the recreation centre: in the sauna or the steam room.
