Time for a Tricity break

The Tricity is not just beautiful beaches – though they’re a popular reason to visit. The three cities offer much more – from world-class food to places to relax (and not just on a sunbed), to cultural events and shopping. All in at least three different flavors.

Three cities, one destination

The Tricity has one unique advantage as a city break destination. It’s a city break times three – from historic Gdansk to the Sopot resort to the young and modern Gdynia. Plus a multitude of attractions in the surrounding towns.

So if you’re planning a weekend trip, take a look at what it has to offer.

Where to sleep

Let’s find a place to stay first. And in the Tricity, you’ll find all kinds of accommodations, with diverse prices and locations.

From modern designer hotels to SPA venues to family-run bed-and-breakfasts, luxury apartments, or camping sites.

If you don’t want to stay downtown, there are multiple options in the little Kashubian towns and villages, with local food and peace and quiet, within a short drive from the metropolis.

Choose a place that fits your needs – whether you’re traveling solo or as a couple, with kids or friends. You’ll find some of the accommodations here.

What to eat

After you check in, time to grab something to eat – apart from the hotel breakfast.

And again, there are plenty of options to choose from. Cafes to wake you up – from famous international chains to small cafes with specialty coffee and delicious pastries. And they’re not just downtown, but also hidden across the entire Tricity, e.g., in the bustling Gdansk Lower City, around Wajdeloty street in Gdansk Wrzeszcz, side streets in Sopot or along the embankment in Gdynia, straight from one of the coffee trolleys.

What’s for dinner? The restaurants in the Tricity will let you taste the best of the Polish cuisine with equally fantastic views.

Can’t decide? Go to one of the food halls with many options to eat and drink under one roof – like Słony Spichlerz, with a bonus view of the Motława River. Stay here for a nightcap, or take a walk to one of the craft breweries for a pint.

And if you’re in the mood for some live music, visit the former shipyard, with Ulica Elektryków (the Electricians street), where you’re bound to have a good time (maybe even a little longer than you initially thought.) If you’ve just finished your walk by the sea in Gdynia, with a cup of coffee in hand, take a seat by the summer stage of the Blues Club. You might come across one of the live concerts scheduled for the summer.

What to do

Now that you’ve had your food and drink (maybe accompanied by some music or even dancing), you can explore other activities. And there’s at least a ton to explore.

Start with a stroll – around the Main City in Gdańsk or maybe along the beach from Gdynia Orłowo to Sopot? The surrounding forests of the Tricity Landscape Park or the many parks will offer a quiet moment away from the crowds.

Need some adrenaline instead? Visit the Tricity to sail or head over to the Hel Peninsula to surf or kitesurf. That’s whether you’re a pro or only just starting out – there are many schools and courses you can enroll in.

Prefer a quiet afternoon with golf? The Tricity has several golf courses, including one of the top master class courses in Europe. Although if you’re not there yet, you’ll find a place to hone your golf skills, no worries.

Some of the beaches, like the Jelitkowo Beach, will let you skimboard. And if it’s not exactly beach weather, you can visit one of the water parks – in Sopot or the nearby Reda, the latter offering a (completely safe) encounter with sharks. And if you’re here in the winter, you can ski or snowboard, even without leaving Sopot.

After all the physical activity, time to nourish the mind. Visit one of the art galleries, like the National Art Gallery in Sopot for some modern art. Or take a walk along one of the street art routes in Gdansk Zaspa or Gdynia. And if you’re in for some theater, definitely visit the Gdansk Shakespeare Theater, which also hosts an outdoor cinema on its rooftop during the summer months. You can actually watch a movie outdoors in a few other spots as well, including the Orłowo beach.

If you have kids with you (although that’s not a must), visit the Gdansk ZOO or the Gdynia sealife aquarium. And of course, when in Gdansk, you can’t miss all things amber. You can buy it in one of the many jewelry stores around town. And you can learn about the history of amber in one of the amber museums. If there’s a storm, you can also try and look for some amber yourself on one of the nearby beaches.

Need some timeout after all the attractions? (We get it.) Book a SPA appointment – you’ll find plenty of treatments to choose from.

Where to go shopping

If your city break includes time for a shopping spree, you won’t be disappointed either. Visit Forum Gdańsk, with its modern architecture and a welcoming space right in the center of Gdansk.

And if you’re staying in Gdynia, the Riviera shopping mall offers almost 250 stores and restaurants, along with a cinema and an indoor playground.

The Tricity also has many smaller shops and boutiques where you can get a new kimono or designer headband. If you enjoy local arts and crafts, you’ll find lots in the surrounding Kashubian towns or during the St Dominic’s Fair.

Thought the Tricity was just a giant beach?

We hope your trip schedule is now more diverse. Although, if it’s the beach you’re coming here for, by all means, do it. There’s no better place than here.
