This Friday, the Baltic Sea Cultural Centre will embark on a journey through Pomorskie design. The event will begin with an ethnographic exhibition on 24 May, but an educational programme is planned in two cycles – from 25 to 28 May and from 15 to 16 June. The exhibition will be open until 29 July.
Kashubian embroidery can be recognised by many of us. However, the story of its birth is not so popular. As early as 24 May, we will embark on a journey through Pomorskie design to trace the processes of shaping the region’s culture – past and present. We invite you to the world of embroidery, textiles, design and the creators of Pomorskie. It will be a journey full of threads, weaves and multicoloured patterns. Wizards: fabric from Pomerania is an interdisciplinary project which aims to bring closer the cultural processes connected with the birth of Kashubian embroidery and Pomeranian fisherman’s carpets.
The project consists of an ethnographic exhibition (24.05-29.07), a trilingual publication containing texts by female scientists, practitioners and enthusiasts of local heritage, and a rich educational programme (25-28.05 and 15-16.06).
During the event, we will look at unique exhibits, learn from tradition and develop crafts – we will learn the secrets of embroidery, weaving, weaving, sewing and transferring patterns to textiles.
The event is under the patronage of Pomorskie Prestige.
